The Problem Contractor Program
Some companies have what they refer to as “The Problem Contractor Program.” In it’s most simplistic style, it is used to keep an eye on contractors that have caused any type of problem for the company, commits an error or just generally does not meet the standards put in place by the company.
Once targeted for inclusion in The Problem Contractor Program, contractors may or may not notice increased scrutiny of job performance, timeliness, turn-around and quality of work. Some companies have gone so far as to include scrutiny of a contractor’s spelling and speech.
The chosen contractor(s) will be sifted through the company’s quality control processes program and records will be maintained that document everything that transpires from that point forward.
Some companies are not as harsh as what I depict here. They have procedures in place to work with contractors to get things fixed. Depending on exactly what went wrong and how severe it may be, the end result can be further education, reduction of job orders to the contractor or dismissal.
