The majority of work orders will have a valid address. There will be times when you cannot find a property with the address on the work order and become convinced the work order is wrong. When you feel this way keep looking. Remember, work orders get their address information from mortgage papers and tax roles and a number of other reliable sources. Before you become completely aggravated and ready to give up, contact gas, water and utility companies. If they report they have an account at the address on the work order, the address exists. The account can be closed or open but if an account exists, the property exists – or did at one time.
Sources that can help you locate properties:
- Utility Companies
- Fire and Police Departments
- Court House
Try to establish a good relationship with utility companies. Most will respond with an address if you give them the meter number whether it be gas, water or electric.
